Siam: The Land of the "King and I"

Hello, avid blog readers.

This little stint in Thailand is getting really long, but I'm not complaining too much. Our conference starts Wednesday, which I'm looking forward to.

Not much else is happening. Yesterday we got massages by the city wall, and walked around a gigantic Sunday market. We've also been swimming in a great pool, surrounded by exotic trees and birds. It's all a little surreal after being in a dreary, polluted Chinese city for the past four months.

Tomorrow I was supposed to go ride elephants with my friends, but I took a side trip to a hospital by myself today. It was a planned side trip, though. I went to the hospital, where they directed me to the emergency room. They operated on my ingrown toenail, without much communication. They certainly removed much more of my toenail than necessary, so I'm in quite a bit of pain right now. That just means I won't be able to walk around and do anything exciting for the next couple of days.

When I was there at the hospital, I thought about the first time I had an ingrown toenail out by myself. That was when I was in Texas with ABT when I was 15. Now I'm 22, and I had it taken care of in Thailand. It's sort of a strange life I lead!

That's all for now.

I'm sorry about your little toe, LBBS! I'm thinking about you that it would heal quickly. I love you so much!
