Today I was thinking about what I was doing other summers over the past decade. They include:
-Working in the 100 degree heat picking up golf balls at two Topeka golf courses
-Wait staffing at one of the cheapest restaurants in Topeka
-Selling jewelry to unsuspecting folks at Sears
-Living in the desert of China
-Researching and writing at NASA Langley
-Preparing to go to China
-Returning from China
-Hobnobbing with ambassadors and Congressmen in D.C.
I've usually stayed pretty busy during the summer, so I'm not entirely sure what to do with myself now that I have one more month until I start working. But I'm definitely enjoying all the free time, especially in savoring lots of interesting books... Grad school didn't quite completely kill off my joy of reading and learning.
And like Paul, I guess I'm trying to be content in every situation! Somehow I was blessed with this free time, and I sure am doing my best to use it well.
Here are some of the other leisurely activities I've been up to lately:
-Reading (mostly novels)
-Biking
-Running
-Eating (mostly icecream)
-Cleaning
-Packing
-Praying
-Reading some more
-Hanging out with a few remaining Bloomington friends
And I'm thinking it might be time to change this blog's name, now that I've been back in the U.S. for a good while now. Any thoughts or ideas?
